As we celebrate the arrival of spring with warmer weather, flowers blooming and pastel evening skies, it is the perfect opportunity to showcase my Fauna Bloom Collection.
These painting were inspired by beautiful Australian flora and fauna and my love of soft tones to complement any space. If you look closely, you’ll see elements of rainbows, stars, moons and boho archways intertwined with a native landscape to incorporate a sense of magic into each fine artwork. Rough brush strokes are also used to produce a variety of textures throughout my designs. Read on to discover why this collection is so close to my heart (and my home!).
Pride of place in the collection is the artwork titled ‘Hazel Kookaburra’. After my beloved Grandma passed away two years ago, the kookaburra became a symbol to represent her for my family. Whenever we spot a kookaburra, we like to say that she is here with us. Her name was Hazel, so of course this piece of art had to be named in her memory. The kookaburra is native to Australia and thought to be a symbol of joy and positivity, due to its distinctive laugh. That’s why I think this artwork is perfect for bringing a touch of happiness to your interiors. Embellished with native wildflower designs, the artwork features a soft colour palette of neutral tones and highlights of musk pink. This cute character will complement any space when styled as a feature piece or paired with other harmonious designs from the Fauna Bloom collection.
Anyone who has followed along on my journey will know my love of blooms and in particular, Australian native flowers. The second piece in this collection features exactly this - aptly titled ‘Wildflower Lane’. Abstract variations of banksia, gum blossoms, waratah, wattle and eucalyptus gumnuts take centre stage in this celebration of Australiana. The artwork invites you to take a stroll amongst wildflowers with a blooming meadow of native flora. Crafted in a dreamy colour palette of beautiful neutrals, pastel pinks and hints of gold for an element of luxe. I personally love styling this piece in a bedroom or office to add a
whimsical charm to the space.
Finally, meet ‘Rosie Galah’. This fine art print will add a sweet vibe to your space with her happy character and soft colour palette. I couldn’t resist painting the galah - one of my favourite Australian birds. Easily identified by its rose-pink head, neck and underparts, this bird is a much-loved sight around the bush surrounding my home on the Sunshine Coast. An interesting fact that I learnt while painting this piece is that you can tell a female galah by the colour of her eyes. Female galahs have pink eyes, while males have dark brown eyes. I created this artwork to embody the spirit of the beautiful Australian bush, illustrating Rosie with elements of native flora too. Designed to be versatile, either style her on her own or pair with another design from the Fauna Bloom Collection. She looks particularly cute in a girl’s bedroom or nursery.
